Barb Nuxoll

Senior Recruiting Consultant, Rekruiters IT

Experience in staffing/consulting:

I have had nine years in staffing.  I have worked in IT the entire time specializing in recruiting for software development, program trading developers and quantitative analysts.

First job ever:

Nuxoll Food Center. I delivered groceries (on foot) in the neighborhood to people that couldn’t drive anymore.

What makes Rekruiters / Devvelopers great?

Everyone aspires to be great at their job.

What are you surprisingly good at?

Cooking (at least I think so…)

Favorite part of your job:

The feeling of finding the right candidate and making everyone happy all around.

Running half and full marathons and a few mud runs in between, Traveling to Alaska or South America or anywhere else a plane can take me. Bringing my own microphone to live music shows. Riding horses.

Advice for people looking for a job:

Put your contact information on Linkedin and keep your resume simple. Sure you’ll get plenty of calls and/or emails but you’d rather screen the people calling versus not get calls at all.

Where you were born and where you have you lived?

I was born in Effingham, IL, I have lived in Carbondale and Chicago, IL and now Teutopolis, IL but commute every morning to my desk in Houston in about 30 seconds.  If you ever come into the Houston office, I’ll be easy to spot. I’m the one with the Ipad for a head and a robot for a body.   Pretty cool unless the wifi goes down and I can’t move my head.

Favorite quote:

“It is what it is, move on”

Why should a client/candidate work with you?

I am driven to find the right candidate/position and always stay true to my word/follow-up and give honest feedback.

Causes you care about:

Volunteer for several charities throughout the year. I usually do any event for breast cancer. My mother is a survivor. I am a mentor at Effingham Middle School. I mentor once a week to a 4th grader. He is competitive. I crush him in connect 4 weekly and my basketball shooting skills are getting better. I volunteer to help with Blessings in a Backpack once or twice a year. Tables for St. Anthony is another cause I help with

What are you most passionate about professionally? Personally?

Professionally – I am passionate about my candidates – treating them the same way I would treat a family member getting a position. I look at myself and a candidate as a team. Personally – experiencing as many things in life as possible and constantly challenging myself.

Graduated from Southern Illinois University

I just got a puppy! Merle, Texas Heeler. The compromise with my boyfriend was it had to be able to work cattle.
